Kelsie Bartek

Hi, I’m Kelsie Bartek, I am currently entering my final year of my master’s program in clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina A&T. I am currently working under the supervision of Melissa Faison who is a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor, as I continue my training and work toward professional licensure. My passion for mental health counseling was inspired by my own experiences in counseling where I gained insight into who I am, grew in my intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships, and found my peace in a world of noise. I feel called to assist my clients in the processes of rediscovering themselves, strengthening their relationships, and feeling empowered to truly experience the world and not just exist within it.

As a counseling intern, I enjoy working with people across all walks of life, with a special interest in couples counseling. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to fostering an inclusive, safe, and welcoming space for every client. My primary counseling approaches are Emotionally Focused Therapy, Relational-Cultural, and Solution-Focused therapy, though I also draw from a variety of theories I have studied and applied throughout my coursework and practicum experience. My clinical interests include relationships, identity development, depression and anxiety. At the core of my work are the values of empathy, inclusiveness, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to creating a safe space for all.

I strive to create a warm, collaborative, nonjudgmental, and empowering environment where clients feel heard and supported. Outside of counseling, I love spending time outdoors playing sand volleyball, diving into a good book at night, and cherishing time with the people I love most and who show the same love back:)

Healing is not a linear process, and it takes time and intention, but the good thing is you aren’t alone, so let’s start this journey together.
